Day 1 | Hankinson/Wahpeton

Just up I-29, Wahpeton is home to “Wahpper,” the world’s largest catfish, and hundreds of live animals at Chahinkapa Zoo. Red Door Art Gallery feeds the inner artist, and the Boiler Room feeds the stomach before turning in for the night.
Day 2 | Wahpeton/Abercrombie/Fargo
Enjoy a morning brew and pastry from Dakota Coffee Company, then explore the blockhouses of North Dakota’s first military post, Fort Abercrombie.
Arriving in Fargo, let your cravings lead you on a food frenzy in one of the locally owned restaurants along Broadway. Travelers 21 years of age and older can embark on a tasteful adventure at one of the area’s seven wineries and two cideries. Experience the soul of the Fargo frontier at the Bonanzaville Museum and your overnight stay at the new Jasper Hotel.
Day 3 | Fargo/Grand Forks
Try one of the best bagels in town at BernBaum’s, recently featured on Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.” Take a stroll through the Plains Art Museum and shop the racks at Mint + Basil, Kittsona, Unglued and more for a keepsake from your travels.
Flag down a food truck for a quick lunch before getting on the road to Grand Forks. Take a tour, then watch a game at the Ralph Engelstad Arena, home of the Fighting Hawks, eight-time national hockey champions. Pull up a chair at the Toasted Frog before retiring to the Canad Inn.
Day 4 | Grand Forks/Drayton/Pembina
With an Urban Stampede coffee and scone in hand, it’s off to the Town Square to see what the locals are doing. Grab lunch at the iconic Red Pepper before it’s back on the road through some of the most fertile farmland in the world. Try landing a whopper near the town of Drayton, known for trophy catfish. As you near the Canadian border, take in the surrounding area with the seven-story viewing tower at Pembina State Museum.
