BSC is state’s polytechnic institution
With more than 100 certificate and degree programs, Bismarck State College (BSC) is North Dakota’s polytechnic institution. At BSC, students learn through an experiential approach that combines in-depth study with practical, technology-based skills training. This applied learning approach is unique to a polytechnic institution.
As a polytechnic, BSC offers integrated technical degrees, including 12 energy-related degrees. As learners pursue certificates, associate or bachelor’s degrees, they engage in hands-on learning grounded in the principles of STEAM, readying them to solve social, economic and community problems.
BSC programs and curriculum are developed in partnership with employers, alumni and other working professionals, providing students with the tools they need to be successful in their field.
MSU offers flexibility
Mayville State University (MSU) offers exciting options for rural residents who wish to earn teaching degrees while continuing to live and work in their communities. Through online classes and distance synchronous classes (which students join remotely), students will learn from highly experienced faculty members, while completing practicums, experiential learning and student teaching near their homes and jobs.
Students studying via online and distance courses will complete high-quality, accredited teacher preparation bachelor’s degrees in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, secondary English education, secondary mathematics education or secondary physical education. Additionally, students can pursue the Master of Arts in Teaching degree, for non-teaching bachelor’s degree graduates seeking to become licensed secondary teachers in North Dakota, and a Master of Education degree. Mayville State University offers current teachers online professional development opportunities.

UTTC upgrades campus
United Tribes Technical College (UTTC) recently completed a full remodel of the 32,000-square-foot education building, which was a $4 million project and serves as a central location for several academic programs on campus, a new library and archives.
UTTC has also recently finished the Cozy Creek Café and Student Union and remodeled the Al Stockert Dining Hall. These updates provide much-improved dining options and gathering spaces for UTTC students.
UTTC has many financial aid options, including tuition waivers and scholarships available for Native American and non-Native students, allowing students to complete school with no debt.
Living traditions, thriving futures at NHSC
Located in New Town, Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College (NHSC) enhances quality of life and builds a strong and positive identity for the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nations that make up Three Affiliated Tribes.
NHSC offers in-demand certificate programs and associate degrees, and three bachelor’s degrees. NHSC is the only tribal college that offers equine studies and sustainable energy technologies programs. NHSC also offers a world-renowned Native American studies program that covers three Native languages.
The college offers high-quality cultural, academic and vocational education and provides encouragement and support to facilitate successful college careers.
Empowering those with visual impairment
North Dakota Vision Services/School for the Blind (NDVS/SB) serves children and adults experiencing vision loss throughout the state of North Dakota. Its mission is to provide individualized services and resources to infants, children and adults with visual impairment to empower them in achieving their goals.
The main building is located in Grand Forks, with satellite offices in Fargo, Jamestown, Minot and Bismarck. NDVS/SB provides intense short-term program weeks throughout the year for students and adults at the main site in Grand Forks, as well as outreach services in homes, schools and communities across the state. All services provided by NDVS/SB are free.

VCSU program ranked best in the nation
Valley City State University (VCSU) has the top-ranked elementary education program in the nation, according to rankings released by www.Study.com(link is external). VCSU leads the list of the “Best Bachelor’s in Elementary Education Degree Programs.”
