Magazine satisfaction, familiarity trend upward
A magazine readership survey conducted in August shows familiarity and satisfaction with North Dakota Living are trending upward.
In May 2020, 48% of readers said they were very familiar or familiar with the magazine, while 29% were not very familiar. Familiarity with North Dakota Living increased to 64%, while unfamiliarity dropped to 17% in August 2024.
Similarly, satisfaction increased six percentage points in four years, with 66% satisfied or very satisfied with the magazine. Readers who said they were unsatisfied fell from 6% to 4%.
North Dakota Living readership surveys are conducted every three to five years and are an important measurement tool for electric cooperatives.
In addition to revealing trends and magazine readership habits, the survey gathers feedback from members which helps us plan for the future. We learn what co-op members like and don’t like about the magazine and what topics they care about. This information helps fine-tune our editorial calendar as we strive to produce relevant, consumable and enjoyable content for our readers.
Plus, questions in the survey identify electric co-op members’ media consumption and communications preferences.
Electric co-op members still overwhelmingly prefer print, both for their North Dakota Living magazine and other co-op communications. But that might not be the case forever. If a more effective communications tool or delivery method exists at some point in the future, having good data will be critical for decision making at that juncture.
As always, thank you for reading!
