For 13 North Dakota teens, the week of June 13-20 in Washington, D.C., became an experience they may never forget.
Representing electric cooperatives from across the state, the high school students joined a record-breaking 2,100 students and chaperones from 44 states, representing nearly 700 electric cooperatives, for the 2026 Electric Cooperative Youth Tour. The annual leadership program introduces young people to the nation’s history, government and the cooperative business model.

North Dakota Living has been named the 2025 George W. Haggard Memorial Journalism Award winner by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA). The national award recognizes the top statewide magazine in the electric cooperative network for overall quality and for supporting the national objectives of electric co-ops.
This is North Dakota Living’s 13th Haggard Award and the first for Cally Peterson, who has been editor since 2019.
The State Historical Society of North Dakota (SHSND) Foundation is hitting the road in April for a 48-stop tour to promote and share information about the Military Gallery being built on the state Capitol grounds in Bismarck. The gallery will honor North Dakotans who serve and have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
